Telepresence and Holography / Holograms - November 2008

Editor’s viewpoint on their differences, likenesses and future...

We all just recently viewed an historic CNN holographic interview on an historic Election Night. CNN stated this type of imaging has never been done before on National TV and I believe that. I haven’t seen anything like it. The live interview caught me by surprise and sure had the “wow” factor attached to it didn’t it? Here’s a link to the actual interview.

CNN Hologram Video

The question now has to be asked. Is it Telepresence?

I’m no expert on the subject but I’m going to throw my hat into the ring, go out on a limb and say yes, I believe it is. Although I know many video conferencing purists are rolling their eyes and grabbing their guns right about now with my statement.

While I do know that Telepresence still hasn’t been universally defined (Houston, we have a problem), here’s how I see it…. Broken down to its simplest form - “tele” (through electronic means) and “presence” (present). This is how I’m justifying my opinion by lumping holography and Telepresence together. Just as Telepresence is surely an offshoot of video conferencing, holographic imaging (like we viewed on CNN) surely has to be considered an offshoot of Telepresence. The interviewer was “telepresent” from Chicago and beamed into the CNN Election Headquarters. She was most assuredly - “telepresent”. There was negligible latency, the imaging was fantastic and both interviewers were rehearsed on what they would say. I’ve just recently read that CNN actually “downgraded” the experience to make it “movie” quality and not as good as it could have been. Maybe they thought us mere mortals would be shocked if they showed their complete hand. I have a feeling it was so big to them, they didn’t want it to get upstaged by the historic election. I’m willing to bet we’ll see the “true” power of this technology in the upcoming weeks and months when they can put the pedal to the medal and show it off without having it sidetracked.

What an amazing time for this technology (all differences and opinions aside). Telepresence Doctors, nurses, teachers, schools and healthcare (healthpresence) will benefit from the recent gains in this state-of-the-art industry whether holograms, Telepresence or holography. Airlines also have to see the threat to a portion of their business travel. Hell, who wants go through security and fly to Miami for a two-hour conference when you can look them in the eye via Telepresence?

Beam me up Scotty! Simply amazing…!

(PRWeb) November 21, 2006 -- After two years of development, Harriman Capital Group, Inc., an Oregon based corporation, is proud to launch on the worldwide Financial and Telecom markets its innovative and technologic products.

H.C.G. is one of the first companies to act simultaneously on the telecommunications, money transfers and merchants services markets. For the first time, a company has made a merger between VoIP services and GSM services and has developed a very unique solution for all people, moving forward for linking its telecommunication services to its very easy and friendly merchant payment solutions.

The three key areas of development of H.C.G are:

- Telecommunications with the MNVO – Yackie Telecom Inc.
- Stored Value Card services – Chronocash Corp.
- Merchant Wireless Solutions – eCash4.net Corp.

This global concept will offer to customers and merchants all over the world the ability to communicate, make payments and receive funds easily and simply using PayToo - connecting one world.

New on the market, Yackie Telecom Inc., operating with the brand names Yackie and Yackie Mobile, offers to its customers many simple and economical solutions for making calls, both locally and internationally. Yackie Telecom Inc. has just released its worldwide cover for its Mobile GSM solution, a pre-paid or post-paid international roaming GSM card mixed with VoIP capabilities.

This unique solution brings together VoIP and GSM services and lets the customer select the best place and time to make and receive calls.

More than 400 roaming agreements have already been signed throughout the world, however, Yackie Telecom Inc. is one of the first GSM providers with 162 countries covered – all with the less expensive prices on the market.

In order to have the highest position in the telecommunications industry, Yackie Telecom Inc. has also developed its GSM phones. Composed with 4 models, they will offer a dual mode GSM / Wifi and a dual GSM slot for your local SIM card and your Yackie SIM card.

Our phones will allow you to switch between your VoIP and your GSM account – all at the best rates. Quad Band, SIP and Smartphone (under Windows Mobile 5) are fully compatible with the major GSM providers. These phones will be available soon, both online and in major retail stores near you.

Innovative payment solutions for the next generation: PayToo and eCash4.net

Under the PayToo concept, Harriman Capital Group, Inc. will develop a new secure payment solution, available via electronic card, online or by phone – all without any added fees.

One account that will have all of your information and one wireless network for communicating. Making payments just became as easy as making a phone call.

Harriman Capital Group will offer one friendly and simple way to make a payment, receive or transfer money – faster and inexpensively. Chronocash is a Stored Value card for all non-banking people, for friends and family use, payroll use, and shall be attached to your GSM phone and to any financial institution through the PayToo services for connecting you to the electronic payment world.

aCash4.net is a Wireless Payment solution that can be used worldwide, with the combination of merchant solutions and telecommunication services.

Today, many merchants do not have the capabilities to be wired to a financial institution for accepting credit card payments. eCash4.net Mobile will be the missing link – anywhere, anytime, merchants will be able to accept payments.

All of these offers will be announced during the next week and will put Harriman Capital Group as a major provider for telecommunications, merchant services and payment solutions.
